Antechamber Image Gallery

When this first chamber was discovered, it contained many objects piled about, including three funerary beds, two life-size statues of the king , a wooden statue of the young king . a variety of other items including chariots, vases, staves, painting chests, bouquets and white boxes containing food were also found.

1- THE FUNERARY BEDS

Three ritual, or vehicle, beds had been placed along the west wall of the ante-chamber and all were facing north. Built identically, they are composed of four element= the base , whose surface imitated matting-a foot rest- two animal- shaped side- a rectangular framework.

All these parts are made of hardwood, stained red and covered with gold leaf. They are assembled using hooks, rings and square braces of copper.

2- THE GOLDEN THRONE

This was among the armchairs found in the tomb and is one of the most magnificent pieces of furniture even discovered.

It is made of wood covered with gold leaf and silver, inlaid with colored glass, glazed pottery and semi –precious stones.

On the beautiful inlaid back, you can see the royal couple inside a floral pavilion open to the life-giving rays of sun.

COFFIN of gilt wood and varnished with resin and containing the second coffin of gilt wood. The latter, in turn, held a third miniature coffin of painted wood and a small packet wrapped in linen. This packet contained a solid gold statuette, an effigy of Amenhotep the third crouching and wearing a pearl collar, and hanging from a chain of acorns. A note by Carter states < Among all the purely ritual paraphernalia relevant to the burial customs, one sometimes finds simple everyday relics that must be permeated with a profusion of memories.>
